CAD Architect/Designer

Gary Baker & Associates, LLC is an established architectural firm in Wichita Falls, TX with over 48 years of history working with clients of all sizes and all sectors. We have several different teams within our firm that specialize in different areas of the design and construction business.

We’re looking for a self-motivated full-time CAD Architect/Designer who can work in a team-oriented atmosphere to join our team. As part of a multidisciplinary architecture team, you should be comfortable working at a computer terminal, but will at times need to fulfill travel requirements and work on-site. As an Architect/Designer you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of technical plans with regulations and quality standards. Your responsibilities will include liaising with architects, contractors, and engineers to gather product and product requirements, to create detailed designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software.

It is preferred that the ideal candidate have at least 3 years’ drafting, architectural, and/or designer experience, proficiency in CAD software, familiarity with 3D modeling tools, good math skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. Must be able to pass a drug test and background check. Salary will be based on experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Following specifications and project requirements to create various technical      drawings.
• Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
• Performing calculations for materials and weight limitations.
• Communicating with architects, contractors, and engineers, and incorporating knowledge      gained into drawings.
• Preparing, reviewing, and making necessary adjustments coinciding with the architectural      team.
• Ensuring final designs are compliant with building regulations.
• Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team.

Essential Skills

• Proven work experience as a CAD Operator or similar role
• Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
• Familiarity with 3D modeling tools is a plus
• Good math skills
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Additional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) is a plus
